Lavender Asian Bistro in Snellville/Lawrenceville1195 Scenic Hwy Suite C8Lawrenceville, Ge 30045 (770) 982-3887 |
| We were driving around Snellville again looking at a nice place to have a fish dinner and slid into, the Lavender Asian Bistro and I’m glad we did. Snellville, and this section East of town has not been known for many new, sort-of upscale places but regardless of what some in-town folks think it is NOT a wasteland, nor is it suffering from a seeming downturn in restaurant trade. I have no idea where all of these folks ate before, but they are filling all of the new restaurants and keep filling the ones that have been here a while. Please stay inside the perimeter you ITP folks so our wait times will go down. Wink Our soup starter was delicious and top notch as well as wonderful to look at, we had PO TAK, all of the parts of this delicious soup were brought together in wonderful deep flavored and, warming broth. For Mains, Deanne ordered the Tangerine Chicken (obviously a take on Tangerine or Orange Beef), it was good, not as sticky sugary as some we have had before elsewhere. I ordered the Cantonese-style prawns and scallops in a pine nut and Garlic sauce, it was wonderful. Bride and I swapped dishes half way through the meal as we snapped pictures and compared. She almost ordered the dish I did, but opted for the tangerine chicken. This dish if available for lunch (smaller portion) would be a good light meal. We did talk to James the owner and he, having read the review in the AtlantaCusine paper, insisted that I try the Dumplings with hot sesame sauce to give him my impression of them. They were very good, the sauce on the hand crafted dumplings stood out against any Thai/Chinese sauces I have had. We drank our hot tea, sat around basking in a good meal and headed back the few miles to the house. I certainly will be back. |
